Do you know what the orange and white dreamsicle popsicles are in the store? This is the inspiration for this cookie creation.
Not only are these dreamsicle cookies fun to make, they are a great gift for a child to give at Christmas time :)
When it comes time to put the ingrediants in the jars, let your children do this and also let them make their own gift tags. You may want to add a second tag with the baking instructions and let the children make "To" and "From" tags seperately.
Here we go -
Ingredients:
Makes about 30
1/2 cup powdered orange flavored drink mix, such as Tang
3/4 cup white sugar
1 1/2 cups vanilla baking chips
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
Preparation:
Combine the flour with the baking soda and baking powder.
Layer the ingredients in a clean glass wide mouth quart sized jar, starting with the Tang, then sugar, vanilla chips and ending with the flour mixture.
Press each layer firmly in place before adding the next ingredient.
Attach a recipe card with the following instructions to the jar:
Dreamsicle Cookies:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
Empty contents into a large mixing bowl.
Add 1/2 cup softened butter,
1 egg slightly beaten and teaspoon vanilla extract.
Mix until completely blended.
Roll heaping tablespoonfuls into balls.
Place 2 inches apart on a lightly greased baking sheet.
Bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 12 to 14 minutes or until tops are very lightly
browned.
Cool for 5 minutes on the sheet then remove cookies to wire racks to cool completely.
Makes 2 -1/2 dozen
Don't forget the "To" and "From" tags. You could even substitute stickers that are placed on the tops of the jars instead of the seperate gift tags.
This way you could create a template of the stickers on your compute using label creation software and then print them out on label paper for the kids to color with crayons or markers.
Here are some excellent supplies to make the labels and/or stickers:
Make your own stickers and don't forget the refills!
Make your own stickers from any picture, clipart, photo, or scrapbook picture with your computer printer and this blank sticker paper!
Enjoy!
